On April 11, a feature film by the director will be released on Ukrainian screens Iryny Cilyk “Me and Felix”. The tape is based on the novel “Who are you?” writer and military serviceman Artem Chech.

“Me and Felix” tells about the 90s: the main character Timofey grows up in a provincial town, who has to spend a lot of time with Felix, a veteran of the Afghan war. He hardly sees his father, so the new acquaintance of the boy’s grandmother quickly becomes a friend and helper, who during the story shares life wisdom and protects him from various problems.

A charismatic Ukrainian poet and writer played the role of a veteran Yuriy Izdryk. Timofey, in different periods of growth, is played by three actors at once: the son of Artem Chekh and Iryna Tsylyk Andriy Cherednyk, Vladyslav Balyuk and actor of television series Volodymyr Hladkyi.

The roles of the parents were played by the actor of the films “Schedrik”, “Cyborgs”, “I work at the cemetery” Andriy Isaenko and Anastasia Karpenkowho performed the main role in the series “Carrier”, “Doctor Kovalchuk” and in the feature film “How’s Katya?”.

“Me and Felix” became the full-length artistic debut of Iryna Tsylyk. For her documentary “The Earth is Blue, Like an Orange”, she received the 2023 Shevchenko Prize and numerous awards at international film festivals, including the American award at the Sundance Film Festival.

The world premiere of the film “Me and Felix” took place at the 38th Warsaw International Film Festival. In Ukraine, the premiere of the film took place during the Kyiv Critics’ Week in 2022. The film also received a special award of the 53rd Italian Giffoni Film Festival in the Generator +16 category, special awards of the Ukrainian “Molodosti” and the Polish festival Ukraina! Festival Filmowy.

The novel “Who are you?” by the director’s husband, Artem Chech, became the “BBC Book of the Year” in 2021. As Iryna Tsylyk herself said in an interview with Olena Huseynova, the endings in the movie and the book are different, but in their truth.
