The Ministry of Culture banned the rental of the Yakut film “Aita” in Russia

The Ministry of Culture of Russia revoked the rental certificate of the Yakut film “Aita”, reports TASS with reference to the register of rental certificates. The entry in it is dated September 25, but it became known only today. Without a distribution certificate, the film cannot be widely shown in cinemas.

On September 19, it became known that Stepan Burnashev’s film was blocked by Roskomnadzor. The regulator saw in the film “destructive information contrary to the principles of the unity of the peoples of Russia”: propaganda of Yakut nationalism.

In the picture, residents of a Yakut village suspect a Russian policeman of a crime and attack the site, but later it turns out that the hero is innocent.

On September 22, one of the main newspapers of Yakutia – “Yakutsk Vecherny” – published with the headline “Roskompozor”, reminds Sibir.Realii. The author of the article, in particular, said that extremists probably ended in Russia, since the authorities began to fight with cinema.

In a recent statement, the head of Yakutia Aysen Nikolaev supported Stepan Burnashev and the second Yakut director Dmitry Shadrin – the latter’s film did not receive a distribution certificate due to the “LGBT propaganda” found in it by the authorities. In a direct line with the residents of Yakutia, the head of the region suggested that the regulators are trying to restrict Yakutian cinema due to the fact that it is becoming popular in the Russian market.

“Not only did they start to respect and praise us, but some people started to fear us,” SakhaDaily quotes him.
