The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science named the most popular specialties among applicants who entered the budget this year

The Ministry of Education and Science told where in 2023 applicants most often entered the budget and for which specialties the highest threshold score was set.

In total, more than 470,000 applications for the budget have been received by Ukrainian universities, informs the Minister of Education Oksen Lisovyi.

The most popular specialties for such entrants turned out to be “Computer Science” (over 30,000 applications), “Philology” (27,600) and “Law” (almost 26,000).

The top majors, which are enrolled to study on the budget, are headed by secondary education (graduates can work as teachers, tutors, scientists, PR managers, etc.), computer science and medicine.

It is worth noting that during the entry into the budget, there are two competitive offers:

  • open, when the number of budget places is determined not immediately, but on the basis of the number of entrants who have the highest scores;
  • fixed: the number of budget seats of the state and regional order is known in advance.
Top 10 by enrollment in the budget by open KPs

The highest threshold score for budget places was established for admission through open tenders for:

  • dentistry (187.120);
  • political science (180,750);
  • international relations, public communications and regional studies (180,500).

When entering on the basis of fixed competitive offers, the highest threshold score was at biology and biochemistry, international relations and political science.

Top 10 specialties with the highest threshold score

The agency reminded that in 2023, the state focused on engineering and technical, pedagogical and natural sciences specialties, because it is precisely such specialists that are critically needed for the recovery and support of Ukraine during the war.

In general, 3,500 more budgetary places were allocated for the training of specialists in medical specialties, social workers, and workers.
