From the beginning of 2024, the Commissioner for State Protection received 569 complaints about violations of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as a State Language”.

Most of them (almost 50%) traditionally related to service violations.

Statistics of appeals published on the ombudsman’s website.

Most of the complaints concerned the lack of a Ukrainian version of the websites of online stores and online representative offices, violations during service and the provision of information about goods and services.

Distribution of other appeals by areas of violations:

▲ Frcustomer service – 47%;

▲ advertising, signs – 15%;

▲ education – 8%;

▲ health care – 6%;

▲ authorities – 3%.

Despite the considerable number of appeals, Taras Kremin, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, notes positive trends in the service sector.

“If we compare these data with the same period last year, in absolute numbers, the number of complaints in this area has more than halved,” – says the ombudsman.

18 appeals were received regarding violations in authorities, 9 – in institutions of communal and state ownership. Last year, resolutions on administrative offenses in this area made up 16.4% of the total.

It is known that the most complaints were received about Kyiv, Odesa and Kharkiv regions.

We remind you, the Commissioner reported about the reduction in the number of office workers and asked to file complaints responsibly.
