On March 9, the Russians shelled the Lviv region: a photo of a dog lying on the ruins of the house where the dead owners lived went viral on social networks. This dog’s name is Elsa. In the animal protection organization UAnimals, they told what happened to the animal and in what condition it is now. “Yesterday, we shared a photo of a dog lying on the ruins of a house whose owners were killed by a Russian missile. As of now, volunteers have taken her to Lviv for treatment,” animal rescuers write. According to preliminary data, Elsa has a wound in the neck and jaw, an injured paw and bleeding in her eyes. Also, the dog received a concussion and is still refusing food. She is currently being examined. Elsa lies on the ruins of a house after the shelling on March 9 in Zolochiv district. Photo: Public. Lviv “We contacted the volunteer Yulia Radlinska and offered help in paying for the treatment or purchasing medicine. Yulia informed that there are many people willing to help the dog and a large amount has already been collected for the treatment, so at the moment no money is needed. Also, according to Yulia, there are are willing to take Elsa into the family after treatment,” says UAnimals. Unfortunately, people who had two shepherd dogs also died in another house next door. The “orphaned” animals were taken to the hospital and examined. One shepherd dog was under drips, and the second dog named Baltazar was to be taken to the Kyiv region to find a new family. However, Olena and Ivan, a couple of animal rights activists, decided to take the four-legged dog to their home. “They say that we don’t choose animals, but they choose us. Balthazar came to us and we immediately felt each other. That’s why we decided that he should stay in our family,” says Olena, an animal rights activist. Photo: UAnimals “And now Balthazar – that’s him in the photo – is already on his way to his new home, to Elena and Ivan’s parents. We were moved to tears by this news!” – added in UAnimals. The animal rights activists offered to help the second sheepdog with medicine – she is currently being cared for by volunteers. We will remind you that the 12-year-old dog Krym, who was crying on the ruins of the destroyed house after the shelling of the Dnipro, died earlier.
